Facial Rejuvenation — FotoFacial RF™

At our Bismarck, North Dakota practice, we provide non-ablative facial rejuvenation for those who would like to improve fine lines and wrinkles without the need for surgery. A non-ablative rejuvenation procedure is one that does not result in wounds that need to heal. The FotoFacial RF™ procedure employs both intense pulsed light (IPL) and radio frequency (RF) to provide rejuvenation results. IPL improves or eliminates hyperpigmentation, spider veins, and sun damage while the RF tightens the collagen and accentuates the effectiveness of the IPL. There are several other devices that provide for "PhotoFacials." However, without using radio frequency, these devices cannot deliver the same results as the Aurora FotoFacial RF™ laser system used at our practice. FotoFacial RF™ can also be performed on the back of the hands and the upper chest. The Fotofacial RF™ facial rejuvenation treatment can be provided at our Bismark practice for enhanced results.

Thermage®

Our trained technicians use the Thermacool NXT system from Thermage® to tighten and smooth skin, improve contour, and reduce cellulite. Thermacool NXT is intended to be used as a single in-office treatment. Results range from very subtle to very noticeable. The treatments are tailored to the areas of concern such as the face, eyes, neck, knees, thighs, tummy, and buttocks. With no down-time, and affordable prices, this treatment is an attractive alternative to some surgical procedures.

Acne and Rosacea Treatment

Acne and rosacea treatment may include an overall improved skin care regimen, topical medications, oral medications, microdermabrasion, photodynamic therapy, and treatments with the Aurora and Fotofacial. These new treatments are very encouraging beneficial alternatives to Accutane acne treatment. These treatments are also very helpful in addressing adult-onset acne.

Hair Removal

The Lumenis Lightsheer diode is the gold standard hair removal laser used at our Bismark, North Dakota practice. Although this laser is extremely effective on dark hair, it is not for gray or blonde hair. The results are considered permanent. Our Bismarck, North Dakota practice serves those from Fargo, Grand Forks, and across North Dakota and the Midwest. To fully reach your hair loss treatment goals may take from two to six treatments, each of which are approximately six weeks apart. Package pricing is available.

BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® Injections

To temporarily reduce or eliminate wrinkles, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® injections are provided to patients at our Bismarck, North Dakota practice. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® injections both relax underlying muscles that are frequently the cause of wrinkles. These treatments can address long, horizontal creases across the forehead, furrows between the eyebrows, and "crow's feet" at the corners of the eyes. Each series of injections is expected to last from three to six months. Follow-up treatments at our Bismarck practice can help to continue BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® results after this period. Injections may be used to reduce deep wrinkles, but also may be used in a preventative fashion to stop mild wrinkles from becoming worse.

Dermal Fillers — Restylane®, Radiesse®, JUVÉDERM®, and Adipose Injections

Dermal fillers are provided to correct for deep lines, wrinkles, and depressions. Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® are injected into the skin to fill out facial contours and correct for these effects. Each uses an injectable substance called hyaluronate, which is similar to collagen. Restylane® was approved by the FDA in December, 2003. These treatments differ from collagen in that they last much longer, usually 6 to 12 months. Radiesse™ is also an excellent filler of deeper folds and lasts from one to two years. Adipose tissue is fat tissue taken from under the chin or tummy and placed in a needle, then injected into deep folds or depressions of the face. Some of the fat is absorbed by the body, while some may be permanent.

Leg Veins — Sclerotherapy

Treatment of small red or purple veins (spider veins, or telangiectasias) of the legs is usually performed through sclerotherapy. During treatment, a solution is injected into the veins. This causes them to collapse and stay closed. Because veins that are collapsed are not visible, spider veins can be successfully targeted in this way. Numerous injections with a tiny needle are required, and more than one treatment is typically necessary. Larger ropey veins in the legs have traditionally been treated by surgical removal (stripping).

Microdermabrasion Treatments

Microdermabrasion is performed to exfoliate and renew the top layers of skin. It does this by applying a high volume flow of aluminum oxide crystals across the surface of the skin. The procedure takes from 20 to 60 minutes. No anesthesia is involved and a patient is able to undergo the procedure during a lunch break, and then return to work immediately. Dr. Becker was the first to bring microdermabrasion to Western North Dakota. All microdermabrasion is now performed at Spa D'Athena, a premier luxury medi-spa and salon.
